South Lakes

A holiday cottage in Coniston is a fantastic way to enjoy the Lake District. With many wonderful pubs and a large lake, this old copper mining town is now a popular amongst visitors. You can enjoy watersports along the lake or even take a cruise under the shadow of the large fells that dominate

this area. Including the appropriately named, Old Man of Coniston, one of the largest mountains in the National Park. A great hike during the day before returning to the village and your own holiday cottage to unwind for the evening.

Hawkshead is just a short drive from Coniston and lies a pristine region of countryside. There are many hamlets and smaller waters that litter the area around this pretty little village including the old house of one Beatrix Potter, the author and creator of the Peter Rabbit books. You can also enjoy the Hawkshead Chocolate Factory, an amazing attraction for families and couples where you can partake in making your very own chocolate. Or just browse the shop floor if you don’t fancy getting your hands dirty!

Head further south towards the rural town of Broughton-in-Furness. A quiet countryside town with cobbled streets, shops packed with local produce and true Cumbrian atmosphere. Lots of local pubs and fantastic walking nearby. Broughton-in-Furness doesn’t draw the crowds that the central Lake District does but still offers that easy access just 10 minutes-drive into the heart of the National Park.
