Description
Swallows House is a spacious, luxury house situated in the tiny hamlet of Skelwith Fold which enjoys stunning views over the River Brathay towards Loughrigg and the Fairfield Horseshoe. Set in a large well maintained garden, it is a haven for a great variety of birds and wildlife.
Swallows offers peace and tranquillity; a gathering place for the whole family and since it is situated in the heart of the Lakes, it provides an excellent base for walking or touring the surrounding fells and lakes. Wordsworth's, Beatrix Potter's and Ruskin's homes are located nearby.
Parts of the house date back to the 17th century. The current owners have lovingly restored the house which provides generous accommodation for up to eight people in wonderful surroundings. Every room is beautifully appointed, with high quality furnishings providing relaxing comfort. The ground floor plan shows the large lounge, with open log-burning fireplace and bay window with wide views of the surrounding fells. There is an elegant dining room with a large oak table - for that family celebration; a comfortable sitting room, with French doors opening onto the garden patio - for that BBQ or glass of wine; a high spec. kitchen, with range cooker and circular granite breakfast table; games room; study, with broadband connection; boot and shower rooms and a further wc/ cloakroom.
Upstairs there are four tastefully furnished, spacious double bedrooms (2 king-sized, 1 double & 1 twin), all with breath-taking views. The ensuite and family bathrooms are fitted with Villeroy Boch. The house is centrally heated throughout.
Unfortunately Swallows House does not accept children under the age of 5.
