Braegarth occupies an elevated and enviable position above Elterwater Common with a backdrop of the Langdale Pikes, it's probably one of the most photographed views of the National Park. On the outskirts of the village with a sunny south facing aspect and open views surrounded by beautiful Lakeland garden. Close to the local pub The Britannia Inn and the Co-op store in Chapel Stile.
A traditional stone built Lakeland cottage which has been tastefully extended to create a spacious, well planned and comfortable 3 bedroom detached house. All the rooms have pleasant views towards the garden or over the common towards the fells. The garden extends over roughly two acres and encompasses a stream, waterfall, rockery and lots of mature shrubs and plants including colourful rhododendrons and azaleas. The cottage is double fronted and benefits from a substantial porch with flagged floor and pine bench seat.
Leading from the porch into the living and dining room, separated with a hand built central oak dresser, designed and crafted by local cabinet maker Philip Bowness. Oak table and chairs for 6 at one end and 2 sofas and chairs for everyone to sit in comfort at the other, facilities include flatscreen TV, dvd player and MP3 player. The living room benefits from multifuel stove and fossil granite fire surround and both areas have good views over the Common.
The good quality fitted kitchen has units to three sides, Italian limestone flagstone floor, corian worktops, dishwasher, oven and hob. Access from the kitchen or living area into the garden room with it's own dining table and chairs, which takes in lovely views of the garden. Just off the kitchen is a laundry room, with fitted units, washer and separate tumble dryer. Off the hallway is a downstairs cloakroom with wc and wash hand basin, and internal door leading to an integral garage, now permanently converted into a games room with full size table tennis table. Great for the kids and the occasional rainy day. Membership to the Langdale hotel swimming pool and facilities are also included, see below for more details.
On the first floor a large landing area leads to the master bedroom with triple aspect, built in wardrobes, beautiful view and ensuite bathroom with bath, shower, wc and wash hand basin. The second bedroom has dual aspect and lovely views, twin beds and fitted wardrobes. The third bedroom has fitted wardrobes and a single bed leaving plenty of space to stretch out. A separate bathroom on this floor has wc, wash hand basin, and separate shower.
Outside the property is approached by a private gated driveway with plenty of parking for 3 cars. Within the gardens is a small summerhouse with it's own electric and patio area and BBQ.
Braegarth includes full membership to the Langdale Leisure and fitness facilities for 4 people, additional passes can be purchased directly from the Spa. This includes access to the indoor 20m swimming pool, fully equipped gym, steam room, sauna, hot tub and tennis court and also an indoor soft play area for the little ones.
This membership also includes 10% discount on food and drink in the estate including Wainwrights Pub.
NB security deposit of £200 is required with this property, the full amount is due 8 weeks before your arrival date and is to be paid Good Life Lake District Cottages.
NB The internet in the area can be intermittent due to the location and upgrading.
NB Due to the nature of the gardens, stream and shallow pond area, children of all ages should be closely supervised at all times.
We want our holiday cottages to be a 'home for home'. All the beds are made up ready for you, towels are included so no need to bring those, and shower mats are also provided. Two tea towels and a set of oven gloves/oven cloth will be in the kitchen along with a starter pack that includes: washing up liquid, kitchen roll, toilet roll, basic cleaning products, a bin bag in each bin and a few dishwasher tabs. This is just to 'start you off'; you will need to buy your own once these have run out. Fire Pack / Logs available to purchase from the Good Life Lake District Cottages Office.

We found the holiday cottage to be very clean and well equipped. The garden is lovely and the conservatory is an excellent place to watch the wildlife. The added bonus is the use of the Langdales Leisure club which came in very handy on wet days.
