Steeped in history, the Old Sawpit is the upper floor of a traditional stone Lakeland building which lies above an original saw pit where cartwheels were made by the Elterwater Wheelwrights.
Located in the picturesque village of Elterwater, this cottage has been a long time favourite for walkers enjoying strolls along the river or taking on the challenge of more strenuous walks. Relax with a glass of wine on the iron bench, at the top of the Old Sawpit steps, watching the sheep graze on the common, or warm yourself in front of the log burning fire in the cosy lounge.
Recently upgraded to 4 Stars, the Old Sawpit has a well equipped kitchen; two bedrooms (one double and one twin), one benefitting from its own wash basin; a spacious bathroom with bath and separate shower unit; a bright lounge/dining area with views to 3 sides and open fire.
Private off road parking is just outside the property. Free Wifi is available at The Old Sawpit. Kitchen equipment: washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, electric oven and hob.
We want our holiday cottages to be a 'home from home'. All the beds are made up ready for you, towels are included so no need to bring those, and shower mats are also provided. Two tea towels and a set of oven gloves/oven cloth will be in the kitchen along with a starter pack that includes: washing up liquid, kitchen roll, toilet roll, basic cleaning products, a bin bag in each bin and a few dishwasher tabs. This is just to 'start you off'; you will need to buy your own once these have run out.
Please Note: The Old Sawpit is above Jontys Cottage, so some sound transference may occur
Fire Pack / Logs available to purchase form the Good Life Office.

Really lovely, cosy cottage. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you, I had a lovely stay.
Very happy to recommend the company, the property and the area to others wishing to enjoy walking along as well as up and down and wishing for a selection of places for good walkers' food.
The cottage was beautiful and the location was really great :) We loved it!
The properties in Elterwater and Chapel Stile are in stunning locations. The Chapel Stile Co-op sells just about everything you're ever likely to need, with Brambles cafe upstairs a great place for breakfast, lunch or picnic takeaways.
Just what we expected. Very warm and cosy. Wonderful to wake up and see sheep grazing outside. (Shame about the weather!!)
