To give our cleaners enough time to complete the additional cleaning and sanitising that is currently needed to keep our guests safe, check-in and check-out times at the majority of our properties have been temporarily revised. The revised times for this property are reflected above.
Situated in the pretty village of Elterwater in the Langdale Valley, Bens was once upon a time a wheelwright's workshop, now lovingly converted into a spacious ground floor property. Bens has fantastic views towards Elterwater Common and over towards High Close.
A couple of steps up lead to a level entrance on entering the cottage, the hallway leads through the house with bedrooms off from either side. The main double bedroom has a king-size bed, built in wardrobes, large chest of drawers and bedside cabinets. Across the hall the twin room has two single beds, built in wardrobes and small dresser, and an en-suite shower room (Villeroy & Boch fittings). Continuing down the hall, to the left is the main house bathroom with shower over bath, and to the right the kitchen/dining room with Aga Style Esse electric range cooker. The lounge takes full advantage of the views with a floor to ceiling picture window looking out to High Close, the village common and fells beyond; A glass door opens from here to lead you down a few steps to a small sunny private and enclosed patio area with garden chairs. Lots of people sit out and admire the views with a well earned glass of wine! The property has exclusive parking on a private quiet road for one vehicle, along with a separate laundry room underneath the property.
We want our holiday cottages to be a 'home from home'. All the beds are made up ready for you, towels are included so no need to bring those, and shower mats are also provided. Two tea towels and a set of oven gloves/oven cloth will be in the kitchen along with a starter pack that includes: washing up liquid, kitchen roll, toilet roll, basic cleaning products, a bin bag in each bin and a few dishwasher tabs. This is just to 'start you off'; you will need to buy your own once these have run out.
Bens Cottage also has Sky and WiFi.

Bens is a lovely, comfortable cottage in what is a peaceful and most beautiful part of the Lake District. There are lovely walks from the door with a number of places to stop to enjoy a spot of lunch. The local Co Op in the neighbouring village of Chapel Stile is always well stocked for the basics so you can park the car and just enjoy a relaxing break. The patio is a lovely place to relax with a cuppa or a glass of wine, weather permitting!
I wish I could relocate this property into all the places I would like to visit. It is so perfect for my family's needs - father with limited mobility, two dogs and me.
Bens is an ideal centre for a holiday. It's warm and comfy with some stunning views. There's some great walking right on the doorstep with some great pubs nearby. Can't recommend it enough.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you
A beautiful cottage in a great location. Cottage very clean and well looked after with everything you need at hand. We are back in July.
