Oak Cottage was built in the 1850s on the small road in Chapel Stile leading up to Holy Trinity Church. Chapel Stile is the gateway to the Langdale Valleys, a stunning area with breathtaking scenery and a great place to enjoy a holiday in the Lake District. The local shop, cafe and pub are about 200 metres away from Oak Cottage, so you can enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon drink just a minutes walk away. Ambleside, Grasmere, Windermere and Keswick are a short drive away. Oak Cottage really is a fantastic Lake District holiday cottage in a great location.
Oak Cottage is spread over 4 levels, the entrance leads into a small hallway then open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. Comfortable seating for six surrounds the open fireplace, flat screen TV, blue ray DVD player and BT Vision. The lounge in Oak Cottage is a great spot if you want to watch a good film after a day on the Lake District fells or curl up in front of the fire with a good book. The kitchen has oak fronted units, double oven, microwave, gas hob, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The large oak dining table seats six, so you can all enjoy a meal together while you make plans for the rest of your holiday in the Lake District.
On the first floor there are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed, en-suite shower room and views over the village centre from the bedroom. The second bedroom has a double bed with the best view, looking over the fields down Great Langdale Valley, towards Lingmoor Fell. The main family bathroom with bath, w.c. and sink, is next to this double room, almost making it en suite.
On the second floor is the large 'L' shaped twin bedroom with en-suite shower room, sink and w.c, small seating area with TV (freeview only) and tea making facilities. This room is perfect for grandparents or grown up children wanting a bit of space.
From the lounge there is access to the basement which has been converted into a games and TV room suitable for children. The 3 large comfy bean bags are great for playing on the playstation or you can enjoy a game of darts. At one end of the basement there's a washer, dryer, wine fridge and storage. You can access the garden from here, just outside the door is an outbuilding conveniently converted into a heated drying cupboard. The garden is lawned with shrub and more great views towards Lingmoor fell. Please note the garden is currently shared with the neighbouring property, although both have their own seating areas.
If you're looking for a 'home from home' Lake District holiday cottage this is the property for you! Comfortable, exceptionally well equipped and located in the beautiful village of Chapel Stile you can be sure of a memorable stay at Oak Cottage.
We want our holiday cottages to be a 'home for home'. All the beds are made up ready for you, towels are included so no need to bring those, and shower mats are also provided. Two tea towels and a set of oven gloves/oven cloth will be in the kitchen along with a starter pack that includes: washing up liquid, kitchen roll, toilet roll, basic cleaning products, a bin bag in each bin and a few dishwasher tabs. This is just to 'start you off' on your self catering holiday in the Lake District; you will need to buy your own once these have run out.
N.B Parking is on the village street outside, although it isn't designated, there is usually sufficient space for 1 car.
Fire Pack / Logs available to purchase from the Good Life Office, you can add this to your booking and it will be in Oak Cottage for your arrival.

Very well equipped cottage in a great location, very dog friendly as well.
The property was situated in a great village and we would definitely go back. The property seemed small to start with but when we soon realised that it was over 4 floors which made it very spacious. All very good, thank you.
We know the Lake District very well and return regularly
Great holiday - the cottage was just what we needed, warm comfortable clean well equipped and in a fantastic location. Lovely garden area which we enjoyed in the sunshine.
The cottage was very comfortable excellent cooking equipment and really enjoyed the dart board.
Stayed at Oak Lodge a number of times and have always thoroughly enjoyed our stays. The cottage is lovely and really well equipped. Great positioning.
Very relaxing stay , the owners had covered everything that was needed , as the weather was very kind to us a BBQ would have been nice , however we used portable Ones bought in the local shop, otherwise very good and will use again.
