Try something new

At Carus Green, the emphasis is on inclusiveness. Anyone can enjoy the facilities regardless of experience. These state of the art facilities are available to everyone. If you’ve never tried your hand at golf, this is the perfect place to start, with tuition available onsite, the driving range, kit hire and even an indoor simulator! The Carus Green Golf Club prides itself on welcoming all, from beginners to professionals.

Whether you are enjoying a family holiday or a corporate retreat, you can learn new skills! By taking instruction, and practicing on the driving range, putting greens or simulator, you can put the right foundations in place to learn a correct and effective style. This is a great way for kids to begin learning how to play golf too. Once you have a grasp of the basics, you can enjoy the scenic journey around course, which has gained a reputation for being one of the finest golf courses in Cumbria and Northern England. Situated to the north of the pretty and historic market town of Kendal, this 18-hole parkland course has stunning vistas of the surrounding countryside and the Lake District fells, interesting natural topography, and three rivers that cross the course adding interest and variety to every hole - The Kent, The Mint and The Sprint.

Just for fun

The facilities are accessible to all. The course is relatively flat which makes it accessible, but this is balanced by undulating greens to make technical challenges for more competent players. The course at Carus Green is described as a strategy course which has been designed for a risk / reward game plan.  The course includes water features on 10 of the holes and has taken inspiration from courses all over the world.  The golf course and indeed the whole facility draw on the “social” model of golf as regularly seen overseas, where golf is a sociable group activity.

The 18th hole has an iconic view over the River Kent and is played in an amphitheatre by the main building. This building won the commercial building of the year of the LABC and lost in the London final to the Olympic Stadium! It has an iconic design to fit with the natural surroundings, but still have a modern and functional appeal.

Take your skills to the next level

Carus Green hosts a PGA Academy which the only other courses to do so are Gleneagles and The Belfry! The facilities are state of the art and high tech meaning that you can get cutting edge training to advance your game, but in a friendly and supportive environment.

The driving range features automated bays with hoppers that replace the tea and ball for you. An indoor putting centre provides simulations -where the floor can be automatically raised and lowered to create undulations to increase the complexity of the put. Lessons can be taken with a golf pro, which take advantage of the cutting edge technologies again with flight scope which records and analyses posture, ball trajectory and allows video playback.

There are 8 golf professionals, including tour professionals, based at Carus Green. The course was rebuilt in 2014 as a thoughtfully designed course, engineered to be a modern and functional course, with appropriate underlying materials, irrigation and drainage, so that from a practical point of view it was fit for purpose throughout the year regardless of weather conditions. It was also designed and built to be a “playable” course, which offered something to as many different user groups as possible. It was designed to cater for beginners and experienced golfers at the same time, so that each would get a great experience from playing the course.
