This delightful cottage which has an upside-down layout with living space on the first floor is located next to the small river Eea in the centre of the village Cark in Cartmel. It is presented to an excellent standard throughout whilst still retaining original features such as beams, old fireplaces and exposed stone thus combines beautifully old and modern luxury.

Entering the cottage step into the spacious hallway with beautifully crafted built-in oak storage to the stylish fully equipped kitchen which even includes a wine chiller. This luminous duel aspect modern fully equipped quality kitchen looks out across the river and village. On this floor, you also have two double bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. One of the bedrooms also has a door giving access outside and both are facing the pretty river with a weeping willow.

Upstairs to the first floor, there is a spacious open plan living room dining area with wood burner, perfect for those chilly evenings to hunker down. There is also a separate mezzanine area with seating as a separate area for relaxing. On this floor, there is also the spacious master bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

Outside there is enclosed space to enjoy alfresco dining at the back or simply sit, relax and listen to birdsong.

This cottage is ideal for friends or families wishing to spend time in this lovely location and those wishing to explore the Lake District, surrounding area and the coast. In the village itself which also has a train station, there are two pubs both under 5 minutes walk and a shop with an artisan bakery just around the corner in Flookburgh village. Majestic Holker Hall which is set in glorious parkland and gardens has a café and festivals throughout the year from spring to December, is walking distance from the cottage along with walks to the coast.

The attractive village of Cartmel is close by with the ancient 12th-century Priory, the UK’s smallest race course which holds meets through the summer and the village is renowned for its gastro offering with the infamous  Michelin star L’enclume restaurant and bistro. The pretty village itself has an interesting array of shops, eateries and a local brewery as well as being home to sticky toffee pudding found in the artisan shop and cafe in the village square.

Just fifteen minutes away you are at the tip of Lake Windermere at Newby bridge where you can embark on a lake cruise and enjoy wonderful vista to fells and Lakeland shores or hop on the steam train to Haverthwaite for a taste of bygone times. Grizedale forest is also conveniently located which caters for the whole family with cycle paths for all standards.

NB: There is the small river which runs by the front of the property which is walled off but children must be supervised at all times.

NB: The stairs to the mezzanine area are steep and narrower than normal due to the bespoke, age and unique character and style of the property.
