Applethwaite Hall, formerly known as The Common is a 27-room former gentleman’s residence in the foothills of Banne Rigg, a fell overlooking Windermere in the English Lake District.
Thomas Muirhead the man behind the famous pavilions at 2 English cricket test grounds the Kennington Oval (completed in 1898) and Old Trafford (completed 1895) designed The Common shortly after the completion of the grounds. It was built unusually for the lake district in rendered red brick between 1898 and 1901 for a mysterious Frank A Roberts, about whom little is known.
Beautiful modern apartment. Great location. We hope to return.
A beautiful property in an Arts & Crafts building built 1899 by a renowned architect, refurbished in 2017 to a high standard with every mod-con. Well tended grounds, ideal for a stroll with the dog. Car parking space immediately outside the property. An ideal holiday home-from-home. So glad we discovered the good life at Good Life!
