Out and about with the baby….. Enjoy exploring the Lake District with your little one!

I am in a lucky position to work and live in the place I love and would probably choose to holiday here if I didn't.

Moving from a city three years ago myself and my partner have settled in nicely and embraced village life (the pub!).

Then 9 months ago our lives changed forever with the arrival of our little baby girl.

Living in Elterwater there is so much on your doorstep and with the arrival of Flo it gave us the perfect excuse to try out the baby carriers which you are able to hire from Good Life Lake District Cottages during your stay. We decided to start small with a little jaunt over to Little Langdale to grab some lunch in the Three Shires Inn.

A little bit about the baby carrier...

You can hire our Osprey Poco carrier which both myself and Flo found it very comfortable and easy to adjust to get the fit just right.

  •  AG AntiGravity™ 3D suspended mesh backpanel/hipbelt.
  •  Adjustable child's safety harness, seat and foot stirrups.
  •  Soft ventilated saddle, adjustable for comfort and balance.
  • So off we set, up through Elterwater Quarry and on through Sawreys Wood. It gets a little steep and rocky underfoot here, but Flo took it all in her stride (not literally of course) and I found the carrier very stable and extremely comfortable to carry.

After the small steep section, the path levels out and follows the Old Green Lane over to Little Langdale.Flo decided at this point to try out the sleeping facilities of the Osprey Poco and judging by the fact she slept all the way over to Little Langdale I’d say it passed!

The lane carries on to Dale End Farm or you can do as we did and take a path on the left which is signposted Little Langdale. Cutting through the fields of Herdwick lambs the path brings you out at Wilson's Place where you can enjoy a beautiful view down the valley of Little Langdale.

Turn right at the road and after 100m is the Three Shires Inn, a great little pub serving yummy food and local ales and has just won Pub of the Year in Cumbria 2017 awards.

A great feature of the Poco carrier is the kick out stand, which allows you to sit the carrier upright and basically act as a high chair.

Flo was very comfortable whilst we had a quick lunch before heading back over to Elterwater.

Overall I was very pleased with the Osprey Poco carrier, and hiring it for your stay or for just a few days while you’re in the area is a great way to get out with your little one without the cost of buying.

You can book the hire of the Osprey Poco carrier by calling us on 015394 37417. We will simply take some details from you and confirm the price, then you can relax and look forward to your holiday in the Lake District. You don’t have to be a guest of Good Life Lake District Cottages to hire this from us, if you are staying somewhere else but can collect from Elterwater (10 minutes from Ambleside) please feel free to contact us. If you have any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to call us on 015394 37417 or send an email to; stay@goodlifelakedistrictcottages.co.uk.Next time we are going a little higher with a trip up Lingmoor... see you next month.
