A Grand Day Out

Last Sunday was Gala day in Langdale valley. Langdale Gala is a traditional local event held on the first Sunday of July each year. A few years ago the Gala came close to dying out but with some rallying by the local community (who in turn were given a good shove by our new Committee Chair Claire Ives and Treasurer Rebecca Ives) the Gala has now enjoyed a return to popularity.
With kid’s races, games, fancy dress and ‘Pet that most looks like it’s owner’ competitions, alongside adults fell racing, Cumberland wrestling and baking competitions there was a little something for everyone. Plenty of great food on offer to, with Wilfs café serving cakes and sandwiches whilst Mr Garside cooked up a fabulous Hog Roast.
At The Good Life Cottage Company we have always sponsored and supported Langdale Gala but this year was the first we have attended with our own stand. Natalie & Heather did a great job creating the stand, it offered shelter in both sun and rain on the day and we enjoyed welcoming some of our owners, customers, and friends to our own little slice of the gala.
It was also great to see how many people staying in our cottages had attended, supporting the local community and safeguarding events like this for the future.
