Mere Syke Cottage, Elterwater is a great new addition to our cottages (in fact it’s the house Heather and I would have loved to live in ourselves)

Mere Syke Cottage is situated on the outskirts of Elterwater, it’s the middle of three properties set in a secluded part of the Langdale Valley, built in the 1960′s. Tucked away from the busier surroundings and on the lane from Elterwater to Loughrigg Tarn, Mere Syke is close enough to the village for an easy walk to The Britannia Inn or Maple Tree Cafe. Mere Syke also offers the best view of the Langdale Pikes of any house we look after.

Entrance is into a small hall way with space for coats and boots. The kitchen is fully fitted with dishwasher, fridge freezer, oven and hob. From the hallway, entrance into a large open plan room with dining table with ‘Ercol style’ table and chairs for 6, taking in a fantastic view of Langdale. A small study area and downstairs w.c are off this open space. The conservatory is off the dining area and benefits from the great view. The lounge is of a generous size also with stunning views over the garden towards the Langdale Pikes, seating for 6, flat screen tv and dvd player, with wood burning stove to one side.Upstairs are 3 bedrooms, one king size bedded room with ensuite bathroom with bath and shower over, and the most amazing view of Langdale. The second double bedroom has a standard double bed and the twin room has two single beds and mouthwatering views! Both the double and twin room share large integrated wardrobes and a ‘Jack and Jill’ shower room.

The garden at Mere Syke is split into 3 large sections, one for each property. This is not fenced in, so animals and children will need to be supervised so they don’t stray into the neigbours garden, that said, it’s of a generous size and will have a table and seating for 6 people with one of the best views in Langdale There is also a rear garden  on the hillside overlooking the house, this is for the exclusive use of Mere Syke Cottage, perfect for picnics with stunning views all around.

Every time we visit this house Heather and I enjoy a moment of wishful thinking, before  getting the house ready for the next guests to enjoy.
