Here in the Lake District there’s always something new to try. Ambleside Cave – The Lake Districts first indoor caving system, is a new venture by Adventure Peaks (who already run the very successful Ambleside climbing wall). Like the climbing wall it aims to give many people their first experience of a predominantly outdoor activity in a safe controlled environment.
Aimed at both children and adults, the man-made cave offers 80 meters of realistic passages with a variety of routes and grades that include narrow passages, drops, shafts, water sumps and stalactites that must be manoeuvred past, through and over to complete the cave system.
The caving experience costs £9 per person for 1 hour with a helmet and torch provided. You must wear long sleeved tops and trousers to prevent any scuffs whilst manoeuvring within the cave system.Participants are requested to wear shoes or trainers as Crocs, walking boots and wellies are not allowed.
Minimum age for taking part is 6 and anyone under 9 must be accompanied into the cave by an adult. Ambleside Cave also takes group bookings and children’s parties (maximum group size 9) There is a maximum size and height restriction so please check when booking.
