Lake District 2013

Written by Natalie Barker on

With Christmas & New Year now disappearing in the rear view mirror it must be time to look ahead and make plans for the rest of 2013. As usual our phones have hotted up with people planning their next break in Cumbria during the coming months.

We find that planning a holiday around an event can be a good way to get the most from your break. As usual this year there is plenty to do, see and take part in whenever you choose to come.

We have film festivals in Keswick, Ambleside & Kendal. Beer Festivals featuring the best in local ales. Poetry and Theatre in Grasmere and Coniston. We have the Lake District Summer Music Festival in Ambleside, Jazz nights at Zeffirellis. Fell races, 1/2 marathons, full marathons, obstacle runs &  The Great North Swim.

Take a trip on the Steamers on Ullswater, a cruise along the lakes at Windermere, Coniston or Derwentwater. Swing through the trees at Go Ape (Whinlatter or Grizedale Forest). Visit Brockhole Visitors Centre on the shores of Windermere (great for kids) or Lakes Aquarium at Newby Bridge.

For information about what’s on and when take a look at the Go Lakes website (Cumbria Tourism) or our local What’s On guide. Whatever you choose to do we’ll offer a warm welcome and a great place to stay whilst you enjoy our beautiful area.
