Visit Britain Gradings

This week sees the arrival of Bernie from Visit Britain to assess our properties and give them a nationally recognized grade upon which some of our customers will base their holiday decisions. We’re not worried, not one bit (well maybe a little). Each year Visit Britain will tweak their requirements a little to keep in line with current trends, we need to keep up with these changes as well as maintaining our overall standards from the previous year. Most of the time this is no problem, some of the time they will make some fine tuned suggestions to us & they are also good at bringing our attention to things we may not have noticed.
It’s always useful to have a fresh set of eyes look over a cottage. Last years suggestion was that we needed to improve our guest information which has been a major focus of activity this year with each cottage having an individual welcome pack produced for both cottage info & about the surrounding area.
Over the last few years all of our cottages have maintained their initial grades with most achieving higher percentages year on year (without quite making the leap to the next grade). We do have one this year we hope will move from 3 to 4 star, we should also receive another 5 star grade for Knipefold Barn. Earlier in the year Swallows House maintained the 5 star gold award (once you’ve got it maintain is as well as you can expect).
Whilst they fill us with nerves we’re quite looking forward to finding out how we do & how we can improve once again.
