Local food never tasted so good

Doing a good deed can reveal hidden gems & Mums know best!. I was treated to lunch yesterday (by Mum) at Cranstons food hall in Penrith. I’d been helping Mum & Dad clear junk from the garage which makes you fairly hungry after a while. As we had to drop off some items in Penrith the food hall was nearby. Cranstons has been going nearly 100 years now and has grown from humble beginnings as a local butcher to a real champion of local produce.
They have 5 shops in the north of Cumbria with their Penrith food hall being the largest. Many local suppliers sell their products (from meat & veg to ready meals) via the food hall. They have also added a superb Cafe upstairs which is great for lunches (I had the Steak & Caramelised Onion sandwich).
I’d recommend it for anyone exploring that area of Cumbria, or for anyone traveling to the Lake District form the north it’s ideally placed as a quick stop as you leave the motorway at junction 40.
