28th of July sees the annual ‘Ambleside’ Sports’ take place (just outside Ambleside :-) This event is of the highlights of the summer for many locals and visitors alike. Some turn up for the fell racing, bike races, & cumberland wrestling. Quite a few turn up for the stalls and burger stand, kids like bouncy castles and cakes. Strangely there always seems to be a large contingent gravitating towards the beer tent. Rain or shine there’s always something to enjoy.
